The Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Program is proud to co-host the inaugural Co-Creating Social Worlds Symposium on February 27th and 28th at our Manhattan campus, in partnership with the . This year's theme, Reimagining our Personal, Public, and Political Lives, marks an exciting milestone as Mercy celebrates its 75th Anniversary.
Under the leadership of Program Director Dr. Saliha Bava, the MFT program is entering a bold new era—honoring Mercy's legacy while opening a transformative chapter that positions our program as a premier destination for cutting-edge, interdisciplinary engagement for social transformation through socio-relational practices. This symposium deepens the Program’s role as a vital convening space, strengthening both local and international networks of collaborative learning, exchange, and action.
This intentionally interdisciplinary gathering brings together educators, organizational consultants, psychologists, therapists, and other professionals committed to advancing relational and collaborative approaches to creating better social worlds. We are honored to feature Dr. Ken Gergen and Dr. Sheila McNamee, two internationally recognized leaders in social constructionist scholarship and practice, whose groundbreaking work illuminates how dialogue and communication shape our social realities. As we celebrate Dr. Gergen's contributions to social construction as he enters his 90s, we invite you to join us in this historic moment.
What if the very act of gathering together could become a form of resistance against forces that seek to fragment us? What if our shared conversations could weave new possibilities for how we live, connect, and create meaning together? Join us to explore!
